About the event
The Day of the Dead (el Día de Muertos) is a holiday with Indigenous roots that originated several thousand years ago in what is now Mexico and Central America. Presently, in Mexico, it is a week long celebration when families welcome back the souls of their passed loved ones for a brief reunion that includes food, drink, and celebration. This tradition unites us to remember our lost not with the characteristic pain of mourning, but with joy and happiness.
Tal Palo will be hosting a reception style event with food, drink, live performance by Danza Colibri (12:30-1:30pm), kids activities and community ofrenda (memorial altar). We invite you to honor and remember your passed loved ones with a copy of a photo to add to our ofrenda. We are excited to share our traditions with you!
