About the event
In this hands-on workshop, participants get to decorate their own sugar skull while learning about the rich meaning behind this beautiful tradition.
Step-by-step guidance with tips for a successful creation of one XL sugar skull per person and all materials included to decorate for this activity.
An individual package to carry and store your finished calaverita is included. Everyone attending will leave with a finished “Calaverita de azúcar” to display for years to come.
Experience includes welcome cocktail- tamarind sake margarita! Followed by reception style dinner of tamales, mole negro, pan de muerto, chocolate caliente. Please contact us if there are any dietary restrictions.
Meet your host Ana Carrera of Calaveritas Sunshine

Ana brings a deep love of color and Mexican culture to this workshop. Born and raised in Mexico, she moved to the U.S. at 25 and has dedicated herself to keeping traditional celebrations alive for her family. Inspired by a high school Día de los Muertos event, Ana began building home altars and crafting sugar skulls for her children and community events. Through her workshops, she hopes to share connection, celebration, and joy.
