The project started in 2017 in the town of Dolores, Mexico, as a tribute to the local pottery tradition exiting since colonial time. The collection is a reinterpretation of the original pieces, made by the master potter Jesus Torres, using the manual trowing wheel and gas kiln to fired at 1200ºC, using only local clay natural oxides glazes.
Originally from Chihuahua, Mexico, Perla Valtierra is the founder and award-winning designer of her eponymous brand founded in 2010. Led by Perla’s creative vision, the brand produces high-end, handcrafted ceramics in Mexico with two workshops located in the Bajío area and a team of 20 artisans and creatives. Having trained and lived in Paris, Kyoto and Brussels, Perla draws on a variety of inspirations in her practice, mixing clays and experimenting with different glazing techniques. The result is a collection of unique shapes, textures, edges and hues. While each piece is an artwork in its own right, they are designed to be touched, loved and enjoyed through everyday use.
